Judging Philosophy

Rounds judged:
Judging approach: tabula rosa
Policy priority: Equal
Evidence philosophy: quality
Paradigm: For me, every debate starts fresh. I look for students to frame the argument round by round and strategically deploy their evidence in a convincing manner. While sound policy arguments are good, communicating them in a sound manner is equally as important.

Rounds judged:
Approach: Communication
Oratorical skills are valued more in an LD debate to me. Injecting a little drama into an argument plays better in this format. However, addressing the core issue is paramount to winning as well.
