Judging qualifications:
I competed in LD debate during my freshman year in high school. My sophomore year I transitioned to CX debate and extemporaneous speaking. I continued to compete in those events as well as other academic events throughout high school. My partner and I won the state championship in 3A CX debate my sophomore year. I then went on to advance to octofinals and then quarter finals in CX debate until I graduated in 2004. I competed in Extemporaneous Speaking where I advanced to regionals during my senior year. Since then I have judged all speech & debate events while in college.

Judging Philosophy

Rounds judged: 0
Judging approach: stock issues
Policy priority: Equal
Evidence philosophy: quality
Paradigm: I consider myself a judge who emphasizes the importance of stock issues in CX style debate. However, I will listen to any valid and warranted argument the negative presents in the round. Quality arguments are preferred rather than quantity. In reference to topicality as a voter, it must be well presented and refuted.

Rounds judged: 0
Approach: Issues
Good argumentation in LD can be supported by philosophy, analogy, and historical references. Good communication skills are necessary to be a persuasive debater. Evidence and proof is not as essential and should be saved for CX.
