Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: Many
Judging approach: tabula rosa
Policy priority: Issues
Evidence philosophy: quality
Paradigm: In a CX round I make no assumptions and will not extend links for the debaters; I keep an extensive flow and will only vote on the things explicitly stated in the round. Affirmative has the burden of proof and Negative has the burden of clash, that said if Neg runs a counterplan or other off-case argument they have the burden to prove that.

LD

Rounds judged: Many
Approach: Issues
Philosophy:
I've very, very tab when it comes to LD. I see the criterion as the looking glass by which I view the round, and the value as the guiding ideal by which are arguments are based. I will accept any kind of argument a debater makes so long as they fully and appropriately warrant it; the exception is to kritikal arguments which I feel are abusive in UIL.
