Judging qualifications:
I have a B.A. in Theatre Arts from the University of Northern Colorado. I judged CX and I.E. events while I was in University. As well I was a state qualifier in the N.F.L for 2 years in a row in High School. My partner and I lost the by for nationals in CX debate. It has been awhile since I've competed or judged CX rounds, however, it would not take me long to get back into it! I also, of course enjoy judging I.E. rounds!

Judging Philosophy

Rounds judged:
Judging approach: policy maker
Policy priority: Equal
Evidence philosophy: quality
Paradigm: Both affirmative and negative must present solid cases with little room for refutation. I look for strong cross applied arguments with solid reasons. Simply spewing and talking fast does not mean quality and efficiency of arguments. Each team must address all points for each rebuttal. Missed arguments noticed by the other team must be mentioned. As well, both sides must speak quickly and clearly and of course be impressive in vocal presentation, logic, and persuasion.
