LD is an opportunity to handle directly an opponent's view and criterion, values, etc. while matching up your own philosophies directly. Speaking style must command the room and make it feasible for both the judge and opponent to understand. All bases of LD must be covered, including voters, or points will be immediately deducted. It is necessary to have actual research and backup research to contend your point against your opponent's.
