Judging Philosophy

Rounds judged: 0
Judging approach: tabula rosa
Policy priority: Equal
Evidence philosophy: equal
Paradigm: As a judge, I prefer to start each round giving either team the ability to persuade my vote based on the soundness of their argument and how it impacts society. I need to see which outcome carries the greatest weight. Students should be open minded with their problem solving and not limit what resolutions they will accept. Excellent communication skills can at times persuade a judge even if it accompanies a less than logical argument, and the best resolution can be poorly affected by a lack of effective communication skills; however, I prefer a balance between communication skills and the sound resolution of an issue.
