Judging qualifications:
I have been helping coach as well as judging all of these events at invitational, district, regional, and state meets for the last eight years. I have coached and judged competitive gymnastics, cheerleading, and pageants for over twenty years as well. I also have helped with our school's OAP for the past seven years. I love judging all speaking events, helping kids learn to speak, and how to prepare for tournaments, how to make their cases more effective. I also like to watch the kids from all over the state each year as they mature and see the amazing changes they make!

Judging Philosophy

Rounds judged: 10
Judging approach: tabula rosa
Policy priority: Equal
Evidence philosophy: quality
Paradigm: Signposting is a must, and I love to hear real world impacts that make SENSE! I love clash that is necessary and not too rude. I do not mind speed, also when necessary, because again I do believe that it is about communicating your case, and therefore you must be understood to get your points in to be considered. I will take anything in to consideration, hence the tabs label! I really love when I am posed with a tough decision.

Rounds judged: 6
Approach: Equal
I like judging LD because I feel that the debaters have all of the burden on them. It is simple... make me believe that I should vote FOR you and NOT for the other guy! Tell me SPECIFICALLY why and give VOTERS that are REAL WORLD and CONVINCING! I think that ORGANIZATION and TIME MANAGEMENT usually play huge rolls in determining the outcomes in many rounds... especially when you have two really great minds!
