FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TX— The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League handed down decisions on the eligibility of student-athletes and issued penalties to coaches for violations of UIL rules on Monday.

Houston King High School Coach Donald Carter was issued a public reprimand and placed on probation for one year after the committee denied his appeal for violation of Section 1208(j), ejection from a contest.

Dallas Highland Park High School Coaches David Piehler and Travis Snowden were placed on probation for one year for violation of the Sunday prohibition rule. Additionally, Piehler was issued a public reprimand for the violation.

Student-athletes from McAllen High School, El Paso Americas High School and Fort Bend Bush High School were denied their appeals for varsity eligibility upholding the previous rulings of the district executive committees. After hearing testimony from all interested parties, it was ruled that the student-athletes changed schools for athletic purposes.

In the case of a Fort Bend Bush High School student-athlete, the State Executive Committee sent the issue back to the District 23-5A Executive Committee for consideration.

In other action, the following coaches were issued a public reprimand and placed on probation for one year for violation of Section 1208(j), ejection from a contest:

  • TLC Academy: Coach Sarah Davies
  • Bowie High School: Coach Glenn Dunnam
