UIL Online Store Up and Running

By Jeanne Acton, Journalism Director | Tuesday, October 22, 2013 2:18 PM

Shopping at UIL just got a whole lot easier. No more faxes or filling out paper forms to get what you need.

This month UIL re-launched its online store with additional materials and more purchasing options.

“Our goal was to create a store that was in line with what a customer would expect of online shopping,” Technology Director Kelly McCollum said.

The improved store was a summer-long project for McCollum and members of the UIL team.

“We’ve been looking to revamp our e-commerce presence to make it easier for schools to order DVDs, our academic study material and offer the opportunity to purchase items digitally,” he said.

The option for digital material is one of the main highlights of the new store.

“The digital items are offered at a reduced price,” he said. “We are passing along the saving of not having to print and ship.”

All materials are still offered in a print version, but with a digital version, the customer saves money and gets the product immediately.

The online store, which accepts credit cards, checks and purchase orders, also makes it easier for schools to order using their tax-exempt status, McCollum said.

Academic Director David Stevens said he is excited about the re-launch of the store.

“This will give us the opportunity to release tests during the year following their usage dates,” Dr. Stevens said. “So the District tests could be purchased online following those contest weeks to be used for preparations for regional and state competitions.”

Another new addition to the online store is the Cross-Examination State Meet DVD.  It will be sold online for the first time.

Dr. Stevens cautioned that UIL might experience a few hurdles as “we make this transition to the new online store.  Please be patient and let us know feedback so we can correct any problems.”
